How to import transactions to Portfelik?

Some new Portfelik users previously used Excel or Google Sheets to control their expenses. To facilitate migration from spreadsheets and avoid manually retyping expenses, Portfelik offers the ability to import transactions from CSV files, of course for free!

The transaction import feature is available in the left menu under the "Transactions" tab, named "Import".

After navigating to the import view, you need to select a CSV file containing transactions and go through the following steps.

Note: File size is limited to 10 MB. If your file is larger, split it into smaller parts.

What should the CSV file contain

The file should contain at least the following columns:

  • date - transaction date in ISO format, for example 2025-08-21 (date without time) or 2025-02-21T21:15:00 (date with time)
  • currency - transaction currency, for example PLN, USD or EUR
  • value - transaction value, for example 19.99 - note that cents should be separated by a dot, not a comma
  • note - transaction note, for example "Sightseeing with kids", can be empty
  • category - category name. Important that this category is already created in Portfelik. Otherwise, the default category will be used.
